This morning she was fine! The only thing I could think was perhaps she'd gotten the pad of her foot cold and was just being a pussy! So my question to you dear internets is this:
Has anyone heard of spraying pups feet with Pam (not me the spray!) before they go out in the snow to prevent the snow from getting into the crevices and whatnot? Any thoughts if this could be harmful?

Bobo is a known sniff and charge felon. He loves smells. Hair stuff, body lotion, perfume, cologne, anything really. If you've got it on and you're in proximity to him he'll bowl you over and rub you to death. It's charming really unless we've never met you and you just happen to be visiting with another friend and we run out of chairs and you have to sit on the floor -- but I digress.
My scent has heretofore been immune to him. Until the other day. I'd changed deoderants and OH.MY.GOD. I sat down on the floor with him and you'd have thought he'd died and gone straight to heaven. I couldn't get to my camera but could reach my phone. This pic does not do the mayhem justice. (he had actually knocked me over with his head butt/rub raw maneuver)

I have not heard of Pam but suspect they would lick it off. They make paw wax for just such situations though. Specifically for sled dogs. I think if you google paw wax you will find a few varieties. SOme are to prevent slipping on bare floors (do not work for that) but some are to protect from the elements.
I have to say though, when Moose hurt his knee, the first signs of troubles sounded like this. He would be playing at the park and we leave with no signs of trouble, come home no trouble then he would lie down to rest and have trouble the next time he would get up to walk around. Gone the next morning (at least for the first few months) then it started being sore for a full day before disappearing. I certainly hold it was an uncharacteristic pussy moment though because that is easier to recover from ;-)
I learned through Moose's knee troubles that holding a paw up is more likely paw or knee trouble rather than hip or back trouble that have a different type of limp to them.
Funny about the smells too! Sitting on the floor always results in being bowled over by moose no matter what you smell like ;-)

Meja may be having swollen hock syndrome which is common with sharpei. Did she look something like this.

Dewdana is referring to Mushers Secret (and similiar products - which you can google.
BUT . . . we also use Pam (ok, a generic) to prevent ice balls from forming. Sibes paws tend to be very compact and do not have a problem with snow. But as they get older, or just don't have the right paw structure, or, in Kiska's case, have lots of paw hair, ice balls can form between the pads. A quick spray of Pam helps slow down the forming of ice balls.
Oh, and yes, they will lick it if they get the chance.
One time when PeeWee got out of the car to go to agilities his whole hiney was vibrating and he could hardly walk. Momma says his bottom was still asleep. Do you think that happened?
Sometimes Momma dipped Grandpa Angus's feet in a mug of warm water when he came in from the snow. I don't think I would spray the food stuff on myself.

P.S. About the sniffing. I do the same thing! Especially when momma or master have been someplace without ME. I head butt and snort and huffle and try to figure out where they have been.
BOL!! Bolo is too funny! Lucie likes to give full body hugs and she stops at nothing until she gets them :)
Not heard of pam on the feet. Musher's wax is good for the pads. But for keeping the snow from balling up between their toes prob the only thing that is going to stop that is boots :)

I don't know about that Pam thingy. Not good to sniff the fumes. I think maybe a sleepy butt was the night problem since it went away.
We tried booties with Tucker but he just shook them off. I agree with Dewdana that the dogs would probably lick the Pam off, or else it would wear off pretty quickly in the snow. Maybe a warm washcloth when they come in would melt the ice/snow off?

Hahhah Bobo would totally knock my Momma over then! I'm a little dog, but even I can run up and knock my Momma back when she comes home after work. A big dog like Bobo would smack the smell outta her!
I hope Meja was just recovering from a nightmare about a broken leg or something. Do you ever get that dream where you fall over and wake up when you hit the ground? I do!

Hi Meja, I sent you the link as the same thing happened to me and this is rather common among sharpeis. I suspect you may have Swollen Hock Syndrome which usually occur in sharpeis between 2 to 5 years old. Dog food that is high in protein will accentuate the problem and a diet that is easily digestable (with protein content of less than 20%) is recommended for sharpeis with SHS, such as home cooked food.
